5 Biblical principles for wives to be the best version of you

Being a virtuous woman according to biblical principles doesn't just mean being a Stepford wife or a Pinterest perfect homemaker. It's about embodying a set of characteristics and behaviors that reflect godliness, integrity, and strength. Here are five biblical principles that can guide women in their journey of becoming the best versions of themselves, without compromising on wholesome values.

1. Proverbs 31:10-31 describes the characteristics of a virtuous woman, and let's just say, she's got it all going on. She's strong, hardworking, wise, and even has a side hustle as a businesswoman. But she also takes care of her family and her household with diligence and care.

2. Inner beauty: 1 Peter 3:3-4 reminds us that true beauty comes from within, and not just from our Instagram filters. A virtuous woman is one who focuses on developing her inner beauty, rather than just her outward appearance. This means cultivating a gentle and quiet spirit, being kind and compassionate, and being a woman of integrity. Oh, and maybe not getting too hung up on that one blemish.

3. Submission: Ephesians 5:22 reminds wives to submit to their husbands, but that doesn't mean you have to agree with everything he says. A virtuous woman is one who is able to respectfully submit to her husband, while still being true to herself and her beliefs. It's all about finding that balance, and knowing when to speak up and when to keep quiet.

4. Hospitality: 1 Timothy 5:10 reminds us that a virtuous woman is known for her good deeds, such as hospitality. But let's be real, hosting guests can be stressful. But a virtuous woman will still open her home and show kindness and generosity, and maybe even serve up some great experiences to ease the tension and leave everyone feeling refreshed.

5. Faith: Hebrews 11:1 reminds us that faith is the substance of things hoped for, and a virtuous woman is one who has strong faith in God. But that doesn't mean she doesn't have doubts or moments of fear. A virtuous woman is one who is able to trust Him even in the midst of difficult circumstances, and maybe even have a good laugh with Him when things get tough.

In conclusion, being a virtuous woman according to biblical principles is a lifelong journey that requires us to constantly strive for strength, wisdom, inner beauty, submission, hospitality, and faith. And maybe a bit of levity to lighten the load. With God's help, every woman who desires to become a virtuous woman can become what she was created to be.
